The Coral Rock House is a living reminder of the legacy of Barbara Capitman. She was the leader who inspired the creation of the Miami Beach Art Deco District. The popular destination became the first 20th century neighborhood designated as a National Landmark.
Since its constuction in 1916 the Coral Rock House has overcome many challenges.
City officials were sent to jail for accepting bribes over its building permit. It would not been restored if the Miami Design Preservation League, founded by Capitman, had not rallied the public for support.
